Scotch Yoke Drive

90° Both models illustrate one of a class of drive which converts rotary motion into reciprocating motion. The output motion of the slider is harmonious and therefore this drive is frequentky employed when it is neccessary to generate the sine-function of the crank in mechanical systems. Model 52 however illustrates the increased displacement of the slide when the slot of the Scotch Yoke is at an 30°angle with the axis of the slider. As in Model # 51 the motion of the slider describes the sine-function of the driving shaft.
